Whale Watching on board MS Sabine
Join the MS Sabine for a porpoise cruise excursion and watch the small whales as they swim in the waters of the Little Belt
The cruise starts from Nyhavn 2 by Havnegade 4 in Middelfart. Boarding is next to KulturØen, where Sabine is docked right by the jetty leading from the mobile home site.
En route, you will get in close to the porpoise, one of the smallest species of whale on the planet. Your captain will tell you all about them and their life in the Little Belt. There are about 3,000 porpoises in the waters of the Little Belt, all year round. So we can guarantee that porpoise will be seen on every single cruise.
MS Sabine has plenty of space, even if you want to enjoy the Little Belt from the warmth of a heated cabin. Your journey will be comfortable, regardless of weather conditions. You can also park in an indoor car park just 200 metres from the boat.
See how many porpoises you can spot as they come up for air!
From oil tanker vessel to modern cruise boat
MS Sabine was built at Esbjerg’s shipyard in 1959 as the third of four identical oil tankers ordered by the Gulf oil company.
From 1999 until 2018, she sailed as a pleasure craft under the name Langli, including on routes along the Swedish coastline, down through Germany and on the North Sea. She was re-registered as a commercial vessel in 2018, certified as a cruise vessel for up to 12 passengers and rechristened to MS Sabine.
In 2019, MS Sabine is equipped with modern equipment like VHF radio, a chart plotter, radar, autopilot, AIS, and digital sea charts etc. There is plenty of seating space inside, as well as a well-functioning kitchen and, of course, a toilet. There is ample room on deck for fishing, or just to sit and enjoy the weather and the seascape. The boat is heated with an oil stove.
